When you say you are working on yourself, what do you mean? Because if it’s continuing the same routine that you have had for years in hope that you will find what you are looking for within, then you are doing it all wrong.
If you are working on yourself then truly work on yourself.
You know quite well, you can’t jump into the world of personal development and expect to transform your life overnight. It takes patience and a commitment to working on the right things.
Begin saying ‘No’ to things you don’t want to do. Saying no doesn’t mean that you are being rude, selfish, or unkind. These are all unhelpful beliefs that make it hard to say no but who cares? Do you care?
Sometimes I even find myself thinking “ no, no, no” and then I blurt out “yes.” I realize this is not just a challenge that I face, but one that many people go through every day. It’s a heavy burden to carry because with the urge to say yes also comes a lack of self confidence and self value.
Make more time for things that you do, and if you don’t know what you want, then do a brainstorm. Call whoever you are comfortable with to have that difficult conversation that you have been putting off for so long. Focus on ways to ease your anxiety. Listen to health and positive podcasts. Watch comedy skits.
Read self help books and romance novels, or thriller or something intellectually stimulating and interesting or none at all if books aren’t your thing.
The point is, be in motion. It’s not enough to continue the same routine that you have had for the last few years, because working on yourself requires effort. It requires change. It requires you to step out of your comfort zone and try new things.
It requires you to talk about the difficult stuff, the scary stuff, the painful and heartbreaking stuff. Your mindset is the crucible of everything you know, your thoughts and ideas about your environment and your role in it.
Developing a positive mindset will not only give you the confidence to move forward in developing the other areas of your life, but it will also help you get to where you want to go and help you become who you want to be.
If you want to grow then you truly need to work on yourself and for that, you need to do something, anything, rather than nothing at all.

This is beautiful Zee. It is true we always need to “be in motion”, because working on oneself is a continuous process unless one choose to not live this mortal life again.
The part where we say “Yes” when we meant “No” is a pandemic, this is a ghost I was hunted by till I developed some “I don’t care attitude”. Sometimes we need to be able to say NO until we have all the picture on the canvass and we know the size of what we’re dealing with. Getting over this attitude truly requires work, and being honest to you self is the key.

This is a very good one Zee.
Working on oneself is a lifetime activity. We constantly need to adjust and revisit our views of life and align or discord with the rest of humanity where we deemed fit.
The key is to always be in motion and knowing and having the ability to say “NO” where you need to. I had to develop an “I don’t care” attitude to have the strength to say “no” where I should really say it.
Working on oneself is a banal exercise and so is doing it wrong. We often use it as an excuse to get away, but the truth is “If you are working on yourself then truly work on yourself.”
You’re doing well ZEE

Nice piece Zee
We must learn to say ‘NO’. Not knowing or not able to develop the confidence to say ‘NO’ is a popular traits is we youths of nowadays.
It’s an habit we must develop if we seriously want to continue being in motion. Traditions and Religions is not helping matter here, too much reliant on these two, in one way other, sometimes, affect our level of reasoning.
Hope a lot of people will be able to read this piece.
Kudos once again Zee, the sky can be your starting point.

Simply brilliant, and eloquently written. It’s interesting how people are so deluded to the point of lying to themselves about working on themselves.
I would be cautious in approaching these people and most importantly, the ones who hide under the guise of spirituality or self love – those are usually highly toxic unaware people who are in constant dose of self delusion to the point where the never see their own follies.
Once again, thanks for this brilliant piece, Zainab.
